DROPPING WATER LEVELS

Are we over drafting our basin?  Answer: YES!
Please take a minute to look at the following  USGS studies showing Bunker Hill's lowering water tables. You can view these visualizations by clicking on the link below and the various visualizations located at the bottom of the page.
The SBVWCD is doing its job of spreading and banking water.

We need your support to continue our work!

Since 1912, the San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District has worked to conserve water by diverting the natural flow of the Santa Ana River and Mill Creek into percolation basins that the District owns and operates.

But that isn't all we do.

The District also helps to manage the Bunker Hill Groundwater Basin — a major source of water supply for local communities. We also serve as an impartial mediator and source of information for local water providers. As a District, we've started some very exciting new projects such as plans for a constructed wetlands to provide a steady source of clean, naturally filtered water for the basin.

At present, there are forces underway to consolidate the District and on July 15, 2009 LAFCO Commissioners will hold a hearing to obtain final vote  as to whether or not the district will be consolidated.

What You Can Do to Help

We need you to contact your local representatives to let them know that you support the work done by the District. Please see www.sbclafco.org/commission_profile.htm for complete contact information and contact your local official to show your support for our district.

Upper Santa Ana River Wash Land Management Plan Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR)
The Upper Santa Ana River Wash Plan (Wash Plan) is a multifaceted, multi-agency, and multi-property owner project that will allow the continued use of land and mineral resources while maintaining the biological and hydrological resources of the Planning Area in an environmentally sensitive manner. Over a decade in the making, the Wash Plan is intended to coordinate and manage the present and future activities in the Wash, which are under multiple jurisdictions, each with different needs. The goal of the proposed project is to balance the ground-disturbing activities of aggregate mining, water conservation, and other public services, including recreational activities; with quality, natural habitat for endangered, threatened, and sensitive species.
